Micromax Canvas XL launched in India for Rs 13,990

6 inch phablet is perhaps the fastest growing segment in the mobile gadget market. Despite having seen so many launches in the past sometime, the segment surely has the capacity to take a lot more. Joining the bash, the latest animal is Micromax which has launched its new phablet Canvas XL. The device is priced at Rs 13,990 and its super size 6-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) display really matches with the name. Here are the features and specifications of the phablet-

Display- 6-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) 183 ppi

Processor and RAM- Powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM

Memory- 4GB of internal memory along with a microSD card slot that can accommodate up to 32GB of additional memory

Camera- 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera

Connectivity- 3G (HSPA+), Bluetooth with A2DP, Wi-Fi, dual SIM with dual standby

Operating System- Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

Battery- 2,450mAh battery, which can provide up to 9.5 hours of talktime on 2G

Weight and Dimensions- 180 gms, 165mm x 84.2mm x 10.4mm

The phablet has not been officially announced by the company so far. However, it will be available on HomeShop 18 starting January 19 and we expect it to be available on physical store starting the last week of the month. It is priced at Rs 13,990. The Canvas XL A119 will be up against devices like Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the recently announced Sony Xperia T2 Ultra. Micromax’s low proposition may give it an edge over its rivals. The company maintained its second position on the largest selling mobile device maker in India in the third quarter of the last year. With its strategy of aggressively launching new devices and network expansion, we can expect the company to move up the ladder in the coming quarters.
