Metz Launches 4 New Televisions in India Based on Android TV Platform, Prices Start at Rs 12,999

German-based Television brand, Metz, has introduced four new TVs in India based on Android TV platform. Starting at just Rs 12,999, these new Android TVs from Metz will be exclusive to e-commerce portal Amazon and takes on the similarly priced Smart TVs from brands like Xiaomi, Vu and Kodak. Running Android TV platform, these TVs will come bundled with Netflix, Hotstar and other OTT apps. Also, the company confirmed there’s built-in Chromecast support as well. Similar to other Smart TVs available in the market right now, Metz is bundling a voice-assistant enabled remote with all the TVs allowing users to interact using their voice. There’s Google Play Store pre-installed which allows users to download more than 3000 apps. The base model offers HD resolution and the high-end model offers 4K resolution display.

Metz Android TVs Specifications and Features

For the unaware, Metz is a Television brand from Germany. With the Smart TV market growing at a rapid pace in the country, the German-based company decided to step its foot via online-only strategy. To sell its Smart TVs in the country, Metz has partnered with Amazon and the TVs are already available for purchase starting at Rs 12,999.

Talking about Smart TVs itself, there are four models- M32E6 (32-inch), M40E6 (40-inch), M50G2 (50-inch) and M55G2 (55-inch). The Metz Android TV M55G2 model has an HD display and it’s priced at Rs 12,999, while the Metz Android TV M40E6 model has Full HD display and costs Rs 20,999. The other models are M50G2 and M55G2; They offer a 4K display with slight hardware changes internally and are priced at Rs 36,999, Rs 42,999 respectively.

Sadly, Metz did not reveal the hardware specifications of its Android TVs, though. However, the company through a press statement confirmed that all the four Smart TVs boot Android TV platform based on Android TV 8.0 and not Android 9 Pie, which is underwhelming. As noted, apps such as Netflix, Hotstar, YouTube, and so on come pre-installed with all the TVs.
