MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC, the successor to Dimensity 9300 SoC, is said to have a 30% more powerful CPU performance. This would be the chipset for many flagship devices in 2025 and will compete head-on with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. A 30% higher single-core CPU performance would mean a snappier phone when it comes to multitasking. Also, with the rise of AI (artificial intelligence) features integration into smartphones, MediaTek is believed to upgrade the NPU (neural processing unit) performance. The NPU platform is expected to deliver a 40% performance upgrade over its predecessor. These are huge performance gains for a new chip. The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC is expected to come into the market by the end of this year.

According to a popular leakster, Digital Chat Station, the CPU performance of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is 30% faster than its predecessor. Along with this, the chipset will be more efficient than ever to improve the battery life of the devices. The 40% gain in NPU performance is also rumoured to come with the chip. However, this would make the chipset more expensive for MediaTek to manufacture, and in turn, would be expensive for OEMs (original equipment makers).

The OPPO Find X8 and Vivo X200 are the first two devices that are expected to feature the chipset. This new MediaTek chip is still under wraps and any official communication by the company is only expected after a few months. The new chip will be the top-of-the-line product from MediaTek for mobile platforms in 2025 and will feature on many powerful flagship Android phones as well as tablets.
It will be interesting to see how the competition between Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will fare and what will be the price difference of the chips for the OEMs.
