Asus is garnering a lot of attention, following the success of its Zenfone 2 series and all the buzz encompassing it. However, that doesn’t mean that the company has forgotten its first generation line-up of Zenfones. It has just announced that it will begin the roll out of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Zenfone 4,5 and 6 sometime in the month of May this year (tentatively in middle of May).
The Zenfone 5 LTE will be the first one to get the update in early May. This will be followed by the Zenfone 4 (model numbers A400CG and A450CG), Zenfone 5 (model number A500CG) and Zenfone 6 (model number A600CG) getting the update from mid-May onwards. The Zenfone S (model number PF500KL), Zenfone S and Zenfone 5 LTE are not on sale in India.
The update will bring along a wide array of changes, which are expected to improve the user interface. We have already had a glimpse of Zen UI based on Android 5.0 Lollipop (courtesy of the Zenfone 2), which means that we have a slight idea of what to expect. The update will bring the Material Design to the table alongside a better responsive interface, cool notifications bar, enhanced settings menu and a delightful experience on the whole, thanks to the improved ART (Android Run Time).
The Zen UI retains its looks from Android 4.4 KitKat, but adds features such as ZenMotion (gesture control), multiple user support among many others. Another thing that needs to be kept in mind is that all the features that Asus has brought to the Zenfone 2 may not reach the first generation Zenfones due to hardware limitations. The roll-out will vary according to regions, Zenfone series has been quite popular in India, so we don’t expect Asus to keep us waiting for long.
