LG G3 receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop update next week, at least in Poland

As promised, LG has announced that their latest flagship smartphone, the G3 will receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update as soon as next week. The update will start rolling out for users in Poland followed by users in other countries. This makes LG the first third-party OEM to release Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its devices. The Motorola Nexus 6 and the HTC Nexus 9 were the first devices to be released with Android 5.0.

“LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is.”

LG G3 is being sold in India for as low as Rs. 35,499 for the 16GB variant, while the 32GB variant is being sold for Rs. 37,890, making it one of the most value for money devices in the market right now. It even comes with 4G LTE connectivity, a microSD card slot, IR Blaster, and a removable battery.

This new update will give LG G3's software a host of new improvements including a new Material UI design language with added depth, shadows and animations. The notifications area will have an improved layout and a new colour scheme. LG is also offering a new lock screen which will allow unlocking the smartphone when a pre-registered Bluetooth device such as the LG G Watch or the G Watch R is in physical proximity of the G3. The update will also ensure better overall performance, thanks to a new Android Runtime (ART) software. Samsung is already testing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its high-end devices including the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy S5. Some videos were leaked showing the Motorola Moto G running Android 5.0 while the company has already announced that they will update all of its devices from 2013 and 2014 to the latest Android software. Various other brands including HTC, Sony, Asus, Nvidia, and OnePlus have announced that they'll be updating their respective devices with the latest version of Android as soon as possible.
