Lenovo has been teasing the K8 Plus smartphone launch in India for quite some time now. And today, the e-commerce giant, Flipkart announced that the Chinese tech giant will unveil the K8 Plus smartphone in India on September 6, and it will be a Flipkart exclusive.

Furthermore, Flipkart also confirmed that the K8 Plus will feature dual cameras with bokeh effect mode and will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. To recap, Lenovo recently launched the budget Lenovo K8 Note smartphone with dual cameras in India at Rs. 12,999.

It is also rumoured that Lenovo will launch the standard entry-level Lenovo K8 smartphone in India in September itself. Lenovo has been out of the scene for a while, to be precise, after the launch of Lenovo P2 in January earlier this year, the Chinese company only focussed on launching phone under Motorola brand.

However, with the all new K8 series, Lenovo is looking to regain the lost market share in the last three-quarters. Coming to the Lenovo K8 Plus, the teasers shared on the microblogging platform Twitter shows a dedicated media button. The smartphone may have support for Dolby Atmos audio enhancement as well.

The bigger K8 Note arrived with MediaTek Helio X23 chipset, whereas the K8 Plus is expected to feature MediaTek Helio P25 chipset, as per a Geekbench listing. The chipset will be accompanied with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There might be different RAM and storage versions for the smartphone, same as the Lenovo K8 Note which is available in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants.

Having said that, we don't have any other details about the smartphone. Last year's Lenovo K6 Power was a pretty decent smartphone for the asking price of Rs. 9,999. But Lenovo has gone with MediaTek processors this year, putting consumers in confusion.

Nevertheless, the K8 Plus will be priced below Rs. 10,000, and if it carries the same camera setup as the K8 Note, it will turn out as a major contender for Xiaomi's Redmi range of smartphones. Flipkart also revealed that the previously launched Lenovo K5 Plus, K5 Note and K6 Power devices across different price points sold close to 3million units.

Commenting on the partnership, Ayyappan Rajagopal, Senior Director - Smartphones at Flipkart, said, "Flipkart has been instrumental in building the Lenovo brand in India – having sold more than 7mn Lenovo branded mobile phones in the last 2.5 years. The new exclusive K8 Plus will make the latest technology available to customers at competitive pricing."
