Lava, the domestic handset brand today announced its second Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone in India, namely, the Lava Z60s. As the name itself suggests, the Z60s is a successor to the Lava Z60, which was launched earlier this year as the company's first Android Go device. The Lava Z60s has been priced at Rs 4,949, and it can be picked up at over 75,000 retail outlets in Gold and Black colours. The Z60s goes against the likes of Nokia 1, which according to HMD Global is the best-selling sub-Rs 5,000 in the country. Lava says the Z60s comes with some key upgrades such as a bigger battery, better design over the Lava Z60.

Lava Z60s Specifications and Features

Since the Z60s is the successor to Lava Z60 which was released just a few months ago, most of the specifications of the handset remain the same. The Lava Z60s sports a 5-inch HD display with 2.5D curved glass on top. It has a 2500mAh battery underneath and runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition).

Commenting on the launch, Mr Gaurav Nigam, Head – Product, Lava International, said, “Our Z60 smartphone gained unprecedented popularity with our consumers in a short time. Following an overwhelming response to Z60; we are now pleased to offer its power packed successor- Z60s. Our go-to-market strategy is aligned with creating value for our customers through improvisation based on constant customer feedback; our Z60s is a true testimony to that. We are sure that Z60s will surpass the success of Z60 and emerge as the most loved smartphone.”

The smartphone is powered by an unspecified 1.5GHz quad-core chipset, clubbed with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There's a microSD card as well for storage expansion. Cameras on the device include a 5MP shooter on the rear and a 5MP front-facing camera. The device measures 8.5mm in thickness and come in two colour options- Gold and Black.

Lava Z60s Pricing and Availability

Lava has priced the device at Rs 4,949 and more importantly, it can be purchased across 75,000 retail stores in the country. It's yet to be seen whether the device will be made available via online websites or not.

Lava Z60s Launch Offers

The Lava Z60s comes with a special launch offer of free one-time screen replacement. This offer is applicable on Lava Z60s, purchased on or before November 15, 2018. Lava has also partnered with telecom operator Reliance Jio for special cashback offers on its complete range of 4G smartphones. Customers will receive Rs 2,200 instant cashback on the latest Lava Z60s on using the handset with a Jio Sim Card.

All Z60s users will get 44 cashback vouchers of Rs 50 each – disbursed at the very first recharge of Rs 198 or Rs 299. The vouchers will be available at the MyJio app. This offer is applicable for both existing and new Jio customers.

Lava Z60s Competitors in India

The primary competitor for the Lava Z60s in India is the HMD Global's Nokia 1, which is also retailing around Rs 5,000. During the launch event of Nokia 6.1 Plus, HMD stated that Nokia 1 is the best-selling device under Rs 5,000, thanks to its looks. The Nokia 1 has a MediaTek chipset under the hood and also offers 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage.
