Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom player, has removed the benefit of JioSecurity from all of its prepaid plans and postpaid plans. Not only that but the application has also been removed from the Google Play Store. Strangely, at the time of writing this, it is available on the Apple App Store. Maybe the app will be removed from there as well.

Its description on the Apple App Store says that it is meant to help deliver powerful, effective protection against cyber threats and online scams. The description further says that the app is powered by Norton and is perfect for security on the iPhone and iPad.

The sudden removal of the app can be a strategic move to introduce something new and better in the domain, but that’s just an assumption from my side. The JioSecurity app notified you whenever you would connect to an unsafe Wi-Fi network. It would even let you know if the network you are connected to is under any sort of cyber attack or not. This would let you keep all your data safe.

The security platform also alerted users of scams or dangerous links on different websites. The webpage of JioSecurity from the website of Reliance Jio has been removed already. Whether this would irk the subscribers or not is something we will have to wait and see. For now, as mentioned, the app is still visible on the Apple App Store.

So whether it will make a comeback or not in the Google Play Store, prepaid plans, postpaid plans, and the website of Reliance Jio is unclear. If you used the app, let us know in the comments below and share your experience.
