The JioCinema App for Android has picked up a new update, which brings the support for Chromecast. Reliance Industries has been testing the Chromecast feature in the beta version of the JioCinema app, but now they have added the support for the stable version of the application, which is now live in the Google Play Store.
Now with the latest update, Jio is adding the much-asked Chromecast support. Chromecast is a video streaming device, which allows you to stream content from your phone directly onto the TV.
The JioCinema app had come a long way since its inception last year. The company has been adding features regularly along with the content as well. The application has a wide catalogue of movies, favourite TV shows, latest music videos and movie trailers, etc. With the JioCinema app, the company is battling against the likes of Airtel TV app (formerly Airtel Movies), Vodafone Play, and Idea Music Club.
Here's the changelog of the latest update:
- Chromecast support
- Download & watch your favourite videos offline
- Bug fixes & performance improvements
However, JioCinema app is way ahead of the competitor services in both the features and content availability. In a most recent update, the company has added a Smart Download option with which users can download between 2 AM to 5 AM. However, this feature is useless now because Jio has stopped offering unlimited data.
Also, Jio has added the option to take the content offline and watch it later. For example, you have a rough internet connection, and streaming is impossible at your place. So, the application has the option 'Download,' which saves the content on your phone. And you can watch it later by opening the JioCinema application.
Similar to Hotstar’s resume feature, the JioCinema app also allows you to watch videos in periods. To be precise, if you are watching a video and got a sudden work to do, then you can leave the video right away, but whenever you visit to look at the movie, it will be resumed from where you left.
