Reliance Jio, India's largest telecom operator, has silently added a new Rs 450 prepaid plan for the consumers. This plan comes with 36 days of service validity, and that seems fairly less for the amount of money the consumer is paying. It is that way for a reason. We will soon talk about the benefits of this plan. But what's worth noting is that this plan was silently added by the telco, and no announcement was made for the same. It is currently available for the users to recharge with.

Reliance Jio Rs 450 Prepaid Plan
Reliance Jio's Rs 450 prepaid plan comes with 36 days of service validity, as mentioned. Apart from this, the telco offers 2GB of daily data with the plan. This automatically means that 5G will be bundled for the users. All the Jio plans which come with 2GB of daily data or more come with unlimited 5G data benefit.
The average daily cost of using this plan is Rs 12.5. This is expensive, very expensive, especially for the amount of data the plan bundles. The additonal benefits bundled with the plan are JioHotstar Mobile for three months. Apart from this, there are no other benefits. Jio is clearly bringing in such plans to drive monetisation and average revenue per user (ARPU) upwards.

Reliance Jio is likely to hike the tariffs further this year. This would mean more expensive services for everyone because if Jio hikes the tariffs, then so will the other operators. Jio will go for IPO (Initial Public Offering) in the coming months, and that would mean the company needs to push its ARPU upwards. We might even see 5G getting monetised further. But if we were to take the example of other countries, which 5G is charged at a premium, its adoption goes down, and that's something the telcos still won't want.
