Satellite services provider Intelsat announced that it will offer multi-orbit solutions across all its business units by the first half of 2025. The operator said its new satellite terminal strategy will enable it to deliver enhanced capabilities and improved economics. Leveraging a network of geostationary satellites as well as partnerships with Low Earth Orbit providers, Intelsat said that by using its new terminal strategy, it will offer multi-orbit managed-service solutions across all relevant verticals, including commercial aviation, government, and mobility applications.

Partnerships for a Broader Network
"Intelsat is making strategic bets on new technologies, including new investments in innovative terminal providers," said Intelsat. "More and more customers will come to rely on the broad reliability profile of multi-orbit solutions, and this is key to our future success. No single-orbit solution can match what Intelsat can offer in terms of performance, resiliency, and commercial flexibility."
Investments in Terminal Technology
The company began delivering multi-orbit terminals for military and commercial airlines about two years ago and is now enhancing these offerings, the official release said. As part of its multi-orbit strategy, Intelsat has invested in a few terminal providers, including Paris-based Greenerwave, to develop an electronically steerable antenna for high-throughput, multi-orbit terminals.
Greenerwave's Electronically Steered Array (ESA) terminal will include custom Intelsat features to deliver unmatched reliability and performance for a differentiated connectivity experience for broadband, mobility, media, and government customers globally.

Intelsat's New Terminals
"Strategic investments with terminal providers allow us to work in partnership to bring these technologies to market faster while delivering a step-change in the customer experience," Intelsat added.
These new terminals will feature fast switching between networks and orbits, flexible beamforming, real-time reconfiguration, and a significant reduction in panel size. The terminals will be part of Intelsat's Managed Service offerings, the satellite operator said.
