Huawei has announced a new smartwatch in its homeland China, dubbed the Huawei Watch 2 (2018). This Watch 2 (2018) comes as a successor to the Huawei Watch 2, which was well-received by the audience globally. The new smartwatch from Huawei comes with 4G connectivity support as it has the eSIM slot, which is becoming popular this year. But most of the specifications in the new wearable are pretty much similar to its predecessor. Huawei has used the same Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC in the Watch 2 (2018) and the RAM, storage configuration remains the same. Of course, the price of the LTE variant is slightly higher when compared to the price of the Bluetooth variant.

Huawei Watch 2 (2018) Specifications and Features
The biggest upgrade in the Watch 2 (2018) is the support for 4G connectivity as mentioned above. Huawei did not launch any 4G variant of the Watch 2 last year, but it has now launched because of the eSIM technology, which is going mainstream these days. Huawei did launch a Bluetooth variant of the Watch 2 (2018), in case you're interested in picking a non-LTE version. The new Watch 2 (2018) allows users to make and receive voice calls over the smartwatch, which is a clear upgrade over the Watch 2.

Coming to other features, the Huawei Watch 2 (2018) sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED display which is circular in shape and carries a resolution of 390 × 390 pixels. Aforesaid, Huawei has used the same Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC inside the Watch 2 (2018). For the unknown, Qualcomm launched the said SoC a couple of years ago. The chipset works in tandem with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which will be useful for installing apps on the smartwatch.

The Huawei Watch 2 (2018) has inbuilt GPS and heart rate sensor to monitor the heart rate during the workout. Huawei also added a new functionality called ‘Firstbeat,’ which is the company's algorithm that automatically detects the mode of workout you're performing and suggests the user necessary changes to get the maximum result. The heart rate sensor in the Watch 2 (2018) is a continuous monitoring one unlike the ones in other smartwatches which measures the heart rate only when asked. Huawei has added 420mAh battery inside the smartwatch, which when combined with WearOS will deliver only a day's worth of battery life. Thankfully, it's an IP68 certified smartwatch.

Huawei Watch 2 (2018) Pricing
Huawei launched the smartwatch in China only at the moment and is expected to bring it to other markets including India. The device comes in three colour options- Carbon Black, Star Gray and Vibrant Orange. The Blue variant is priced at 1540 Yuan (approx. Rs 16,000), while the Cellular variant costs 1999 Yuan (approx. Rs 20,800).
