Chinese technology giant Huawei on Sunday unveiled its much-anticipated and most talked-about Huawei Mate X 5G foldable phone at euro 2,299 that could take the digital world by storm. Powered by the company's Kirin 980 processor, the phone comes with a 6.6-inch dual display panel and offers a FullView display. When unfolded, it transforms into an 8-inch tablet only 5.4mm thick. It houses massive 4,500mAh dual battery and several industry-first features including a new superfast charging capability that can reach 85% battery in just 30 minutes.
Unveiling the product at a crowded press conference at the ongoing MWC, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu said it was the fastest 5G phone backed by the Balong 5000 modem.
"The 4500mAh battery makes it a really a long-lasting charge which is 600% faster than iPhone XS," Yu said, adding that the phone supports dual SIM.
The Huawei Mate X features a flexible OLED panel and a falcon wing mechanical patented hinge with over 100 components. Thinner by design, it is six millimetres thinner when closed and has all new side-by-side viewing experience.
It gives best-in-class selfie supported by Leica lens, Yu claimed. The phone now has only one colour, Interstellar Blue, and comes with a full protection case. It uses NSAS network architecture.
The 8GB + 512 GB phone will be available from the middle of this year, Yu said. It supports the world's fastest 55 Watt "Huawei SuperCharge" technology, he added.
