There were reports that stated HTC is coming up with two Nexus devices this year. The rumor basically surfaced from a tipster @LlabTooFeR, who claimed that the phones code named ‘T50’ and ‘T55’ with 5-inch and 5.5-inch display will be launched soon.

Nexus 6P Back

Soon after that, here surfaces another report (perhaps a stronger one) from Charlene Munilall, general manager for Huawei’s Consumer Business Group in South Africa. During the launch of Huawei P9, P9 Plus, and P9 Lite in South Africa on Thursday and in the subsequent interview Munilall gave to ‘Gearbun’, she revealed that Huawei is working on the next Nexus this year.

In the interview, she said, “……We’re doing the Nexus again this year, by the way. The Nexus product is a very niche product… the techies love it but there’s a very small number of people that buy it. Hence, Cellucity only brought 300… into the country,” she explained when inquired about the release issues with Huawei Nexus 6P in South Africa. Meanwhile, Huawei P9 and P9 Plus were already made official in India during April 2016. To recap, both the smartphones boast dual 12MP rear cameras with Leica SUMMARIT lenses and 1.25-micron pixels that claim to offer flawless photography in low-light conditions.

Huawei P9 features a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display, powered by Octa-Core Kirin 955 chipset with Mali T880-MP4 GPU coupled with 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. There is also a 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top. In terms of connectivity, Huawei P9 supports Hybrid dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. There are also a  fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor housed in the smartphone. A 3000mAh battery with fast charging completes the package. It comes with a price tag of Rs. 42,140 approx.

On another hand, Huawei P9 Plus features similar features like that of P9, except that its display is that of 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display and its battery comes in 3400mAh. During the launch, it was priced at Rs. 51,570 approx.
