Huawei has been teasing a new smartphone launch in the Indian market in recent times with the hashtag- #ExplorewithHONOR. However, the company is yet to announce which smartphone it's going to launch in India and when it's going to launch in India. However, it now seems like Honor's global Twitter account has spilt a major information about the upcoming Honor smartphone launch in India.

When a user from India asked about the Honor 9's launch in India, the company replied him that the device will be launched in India on October 5, as you can see in the screenshot below. This is interesting because Huawei recently launched the Honor 8 Pro smartphone in India at Rs. 29,999, and the company is yet to announce the successor to last year's Huawei P9. Everyone, including me, expected the company to bring the Huawei P10 to the Indian market, but this news is even more interesting.

While the Huawei Honor 8 Pro is a different smartphone altogether and gave a stiff competition to the OnePlus 5 in India, the Honor 9 will be a OnePlus 5 killer for sure. That said, Honor India is yet to confirm the launch of the Honor 9 smartphone in India. The Honor 9 features similar hardware to the Honor 8 Pro, but comes with a gorgeous design and much better cameras.

The Huawei Honor 9, without any doubt, is the best-looking smartphone in the house of Huawei and Honor. The device features a gorgeous glass back and the smartphone comes in various colours- Glacier Grey, Sapphire Blue, Midnight Black, Gold, Blue Bird, Robin Egg Blue. That said, not all colours will make into the Indian market. The Robin Egg Blue colour variant is my personal favourite.

Hardware wise, the Honor 9 flaunts a 5.15-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, that further extends to a pixel density of 428 PPI. Internally, the Honor 9 is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC, mated with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. This the same chipset used in the Honor 8 Pro. So, there won't be much performance difference between the Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro.

The handset comes with dual camera setup at the back of 20MP and 12MP. The primary 12MP sensor has an aperture of f/2.2 and captures RGB shots. The secondary 20MP sensor has a telephoto lens which captures 2x lossless zoom images. This is the same camera setup seen on the OnePlus 5. The Honor 9 has an 8MP front-facing camera.

The device features a fingerprint sensor and runs the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS. This package is backed by a 3200mAh battery. The Indian pricing of the Honor 9 is still a mystery. Considering the Honor 8 Pro at Rs. 29,999, if at all Huawei launches the Honor 9 in India, the device will be priced somewhat higher than the former. My expectation is that the device will ship for Rs. 36,999 or even a lesser price would be appreciated. The Honor 9 will also compete with Nokia 8 in the Indian market.

In China though, Huawei will be launching its flagship smartphones, the Huawei Mate 10 series on October 16, while Honor is scheduled to launch its mid-range smartphone, the Honor 7X on October 11.

Which device should Huawei bring to India? Honor 9 or Honor 7X? Let us know in the comments below.
