Honor 8X With Dual 4G and 480fps Slow-Motion Recording Officially Launched

Honor has finally launched the much-awaited successor to Honor 7X, aptly named as the Honor 8X. The Honor 8X brings upgrades in every corner starting with the design, internal hardware, cameras and battery. And for power users, the company has even launched Honor 8X Max, which comes with a Snapdragon chipset. And with the 8X Max, the company is looking to take on the Mi Max lineup. Maybe, both the standard and Max variants will reach the Indian shores, however, Honor is yet to reveal its plans on the Indian launch though. The Honor 8X sports glass build, Kirin 710 chipset and a beefy 3750mAh battery. It also has support for slow-motion video recording at 480fps.

Honor 8X Specifications and Features

The Honor 8X is a well-specced mid-range smartphone. With this device, Honor will be looking to take on the likes of Xiaomi Mi A2, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Nokia 6.1 Plus and others in the Indian market. The Honor 8X rocks a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display on the front with a notch and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it has the Kirin 710 mid-range chipset which is built on the 12nm process. We have seen the chipset on other devices such as the Huawei Nova 3i.

The chipset is paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of internal storage. It also comes with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB. Cameras on the Honor 8X include a 20MP primary shooter on the rear with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF. There's a secondary depth sensor of 2MP to add bokeh effect in the images. The rear camera is capable of shooting slow-motion videos at 480fps, something we haven't seen on any mid-range device launched to date. Frontal, there's a 16MP shooter for selfies and video calls. Like the Mi A2, the Honor 8X also has the pixel binning technology to improve overall image clarity. The camera app comes with various AI features, like the recently launched Honor phones.

The Honor 8X is armed with a 3750mAh battery along with fast charging support. The fingerprint scanner is present on the rear side. Honor has also added a 4D gaming mode to the Honor 8X, and it even has GPU Turbo technology to boost the gaming performance. As for the connectivity options, the 8X has Dual 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and USB Type-C port. The device measures 7.8mm in thickness and weighs 175 grams.

Honor 8X Pricing and Availability

The Honor 8X, for now, will be available in the Chinese market. Honor has introduced the device in four different colour options- Black, Blue, Red and Purple, and in three different configurations. Talking about the pricing of the Honor 8X, it starts at 1399 Yuan (approx. Rs 14,433) for the 4GB/64GB variant. The 6GB/64GB variant has been priced at 1599 Yuan (approx. Rs 16,490) and lastly, the 4GB/128GB variant will retail for 1899 Yuan (approx. Rs 19,591).

Honor 8X Indian Launch and Expected Pricing

Going by Honor's aggressive strategy in recent times, we might see the Honor 8X launching in India in the next one month or so. Talking and pricing, the Honor 8X might start at Rs 14,999, as opposed to the Rs 12,999 price tag for the Honor 7X. To recall, the Honor 7X was launched in India in December 2017.

Honor 8X Competitors in India

The Honor 8X goes against the Xiaomi Mi A2, Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Nokia 6.1 Plus in India. The Mi A2 has been priced at Rs 16,999 in the Indian market, but it sports the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. The Note 5 Pro and the Nokia 6.1 Plus both have Snapdragon 636 SoC under the hood and are priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 15,999 respectively.
