Honor is currently seeding a new OTA update to its budget smartphones- the Honor 6X and the Honor 9i. And the update brings VoLTE support on Vodafone network for both the devices. Several users on Twitter are also reporting that their Honor 7X also received an update, which added Vodafone VoLTE support. So, it's safe to assume that all the older devices will soon receive an update for Vodafone VoLTE.
It's good to see Honor adding VoLTE support on Vodafone network as the company is yet to add Airtel VoLTE support for its smartphones. Several Airtel 4G users are complaining about the lack of Airtel VoLTE on Honor devices as they offer decent value for money.
Vodafone is yet to officially roll out VoLTE service in India, but the rollout has confirmed for later this month. Already, Vodafone 4G customers in several circles are receiving VoLTE network, meaning the official launch is around the corner.
A couple of days ago, we reported that Vodafone's VoLTE support would be rolled manually by device manufacturers after testing it extensively. That said, this is similar to how Airtel's VoLTE service works. We also highlighted that only a few key smartphones would have support for Vodafone VoLTE at the launch.
Samsung and Apple are expected to add Vodafone VoLTE support to their smartphones by the end of February and March respectively. Some smartphones from Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Huawei are confirmed to support VoLTE on Vodafone network in the first phase of roll out. Vodafone has planned the rollout of VoLTE in two phases. In the first phase, the rollout will happen in metro cities such as Mumbai, Gujarat, Delhi, Karnataka, and Kolkata, and in the second phase, the rollout will happen in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, UP West, Chennai, UP East, Maharashtra & Goa circles.
