Honor 7X Receives OTA Update: GPU Turbo, Call Recording and Party Mode Available Now

Huawei’s proprietary technology, the GPU Turbo feature which helps the users in gaming by shooting up the processor performance has now been launched for the budget-friendly Honor 7X. Honor firstly launched this new feature, called the GPU Turbo, especially for boosting game performance on their phones. A big chunk of new Honor phones now come with it, and a few months ago, the Honor 7X Chinese variant also received the feature by an OTA update. Following suit, now Huawei has also started pushing the update to the global variants of Honor 7X which will bring the GPU Turbo feature onboard.

New OTA Update for Honor 7X

The new Honor 7X update which is the version 8.0.0.360 brings many more additional functionalities apart from the GPU Turbo. As per the changelog of the latest update, there is also a call recording support which will allow the users to record calls with a single tap of a button. There is also a Party Mode app included in the latest update which will enable the users to sync music playback across multiple devices. Honor has also confirmed that it would include a security patch in the update as well. It’s worth noting that the update rolled out by Honor is only for the BND-AL10 variants of Honor 7X, the variant which is sold in India.

Honor 7X Specifications and Features

The Honor 7X features a 5.93-inch FullView display alongwith 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Being a budget oriented device, the Honor 7X doesn’t really offer the best performance, and it packs a Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36 GHz paired with a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU for graphics. This SoC comes paired with 4GB of RAM and two memory options of 32GB and 64GB depending on the variant. There is the option of expanding storage by a hybrid SIM slot. Honor also ships a one key split function in this phone which will allow the users to enjoy seamless multitasking. The phone packs a 3340mAh non-removable battery with no fast charging support. On the software front, the Honor 7X boots Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top.

The Honor 7X flaunts a dual rear camera setup of 16MP + 2MP and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The dual rear setup comes with PDAF technology and Portrait Mode also. There are selfie gesture controls for the front camera on this phone along with Smart Face Unlock. Additionally, the Honor 7X also offers a rear fingerprint sensor.

Connectivity options on the Honor 7X include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, FM radio, and 4G VoLTE. The dimensions of the phone measure 156.5 x 75.3 x 7.6mm and weighs 165 grams.

Honor 7X Pricing

Right now the Honor 7X retails in India for 11,999 for the entry level variant with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For the higher variant of 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, the Honor 7X bears a price tag of Rs 14,999. The phone also ships with Reliance Jio Football Offer which provides the buyers with Rs 2,200 worth of recharge vouchers which will be redeemable on subsequent recharges of Rs 198 and Rs 299.
