HMD Global has silently released the Android P Beta 2 for the Nokia 7 Plus smartphone yesterday. The Finnish upstart company has confirmed this news on its official portal, but at the moment, only the flashable zip file is available, while the Beta 2 will be available via OTA update in the coming days. The new Android P update comes with the V3.08B version number and the company even confirmed that there's a new rollback Android Oreo image with version number- V2.13B. Interested users can head over to Nokia's website and install the new Beta update manually. And the users already on the Android P Beta 1 can wait for the OTA update, which, according to HMD is very close for the release.
Google surprised one and all by opening the Android P Beta program to third-party devices from popular brands such as HMD Global, Xiaomi, Essential, Vivo, Oppo and others. The Nokia 7 Plus joined this list as the only device from HMD Global because it's the company's only smartphone with 18:9 display at the moment.
The Android P Beta 2 (also known as Developer Preview 3) was rolled out to Google Pixel, Pixel 2 devices earlier this month. Later on, Essential rolled out the same to its Essential PH-1 smartphone and soon, OnePlus released the update to the OnePlus 6. The Android P Beta 2 on the OnePlus 6 is now stable and can be used as a daily driver.
The first Android P beta on the Nokia 7 Plus was stable enough to use it as the daily driver, but there were some bugs such as the no 2x zoom option in the camera app, no dual 4G functionality and others. Hopefully, this new Beta 2 update will fix all these features. We're trying to install the update on our Nokia 7 Plus and a comprehensive review on the same will be live in the coming days.
