Federal Bank has launched FedBook Selfie, a mobile app that enables people to open bank account from the bank at a function held at Kochi. This first-of-its-kind app in India was launched by the Union Minister Arun Jaitely in the presence of Shyam Srinivasan, MD and CEO, Federal Bank.

Anyone with the app, and has Aadhaar card and PAN card can avail the service of the app. They can register, open an account and get live account number, once the account is opened. The initial remittance should be of ‘not exceeding Rs. 10,000’.

User can download FedBook app in their smartphones, take a selfie, scan Aadhaar card and PAN card to begin the account. The details of Aadhaar will be verified in real-time by the app, hence, no delay happens in sanctioning the account.

The app is available on Android and iOS phones. Federal Bank has released the new app as an upgrade to its earlier launched digital passbook app FedBook, which was launched two years back.
