Apart from the camera, one of the best things about the Pixel 3 XL is the notch that equips the dual selfie camera, earpiece and the sensor. Soon after the launch, the Pixel 3 XL has been plagued by a weird bug which brings the second notch to the phone. Strange. A Twitter user named UrAvgConsumer was among the first ones to report about this notch problem.
Additional Notch Appears On the Side of Pixel 3 XL
The user also posted a picture of the Pixel 3 XL with that extra virtual notch on the left side of the phone. Reportedly, only a few Pixel 3 XL users are facing this notch issue. The bug apparently shows up when the Pixel 3 XL users enable the developer options in the Settings menu.
At the launch of the Pixel 3 XL in October, Google had revealed that users who don't like the notch would be able to hide the notch by heading to the "hide notch" option on the Settings tab. Clicking on the option will bring a black bar on top of the screen in place of the notch.
Screen Rotation Causing the Issue
As of now, there's no word on what's causing the extra notch bug, but according to an Android Police report, the problem is occurring due to the screen rotation feature. Reportedly, the screen rotation feature is getting mixed up with the phone's orientation and this is what is bringing the extra notch of the side of the phone.
The same report also claims that the notch issue can be resolved by rebooting the device or tweaking the developer settings. Google has already addressed the notch issue and said that the company is aware of the issue. Google has said that the fix for the issue will be rolled out to the users very soon via a software update.
Pixel 3 XL Plagued With Many Issues
Pixel 3 XL has been in the limelight for some wrong reasons lately. Soon after the launch of the phone, some Pixel 3 XL users reported about a bug in the camera app. Reportedly, the camera app of the Pixel phone wasn't saving the photos in the gallery. Google has already acknowledged the bug and said it is going to fix the problem soon. We expect Google to fix both the camera app and the notch issue in the same update shortly.
