Emtel Mauritius Officially Launches 5G Mobile Network

Emtel Mauritius has officially rolled out its 5G mobile network and joined forces with Tecnotree for a BSS transformation journey. The collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiency and meet market requirements as a Telecom operator.

Emtel Mauritius Officially Launches 5G Mobile Network

Emtel Mauritius officially launched its 5G mobile network on July 31st, 2023. Emtel Mauritius also announced that it had selected Finnish-based provider, Tecnotree for its BSS transformation journey. The partnership with Tecnotree involves the implementation of a BSS stack solution to replace Emtel's legacy business processes, products, and services, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and meet current and future market requirements as a Telecom operator.

Emtel Mauritius 5G Mobile Network Launch

With the 5G Mobile Network launch, Emtel Mauritius customers can now experience high-speed download speeds of up to 1.87 Gbps. Emtel targets a population coverage of 60 percent initially, with plans to achieve full coverage by 2024.

The company had previously launched the 5G Broadband Fixed Wireless Access (BFWA) service named 'Airbox 5G' in Mauritius in August 2022. The service is available in both prepaid and postpaid options, provided via a 5G Airbox router, which is a plug-and-play device and can also function as an outdoor unit for coverage enhancement when needed.

During a press event, Emtel expressed pride in having the widest 5G network in Mauritius. "With the widest 5G network in Mauritius and most probably the widest 5G network in Africa, considering the population and the area that we cover, we are proud to be the first company to launch 5G across such a significant portion of the island," said Emtel.

Partnership with Tecnotree for BSS Transformation

In line with the 5G network launch, Tecnotree's 5G-ready BSS suite will support Emtel Mauritius in its transition. The BSS suite comes with analytical capabilities, offering a full range of business processes to support customer lifecycle and revenue management. Tecnotree's solution aims to enhance the customer experience and provide advanced monetization opportunities for the telco.

The deployment of Tecnotree's solution includes various products such as Customer Management, Document Management, Product Management, Order Management, Inventory Management, Distributor Management, Commission Management, Workflow Management, Loyalty and Campaign Management, Customer Self-care, Lead & Sales Management, and VAS Management, according to the official release.
