State-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in India has announced that it has built over 15,000 4G sites as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. This milestone was revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where BSNL India shared its progress in enhancing connectivity across the nation, stating "4G for Every Indian."

"Proud to announce the milestone of 15,000+ 4G sites built under the #AtmanirbharBharat initiative. Empowering India with seamless connectivity!" BSNL India said in a post on Tuesday.
5G Ready SIM Cards
The Department of Telecommunications also shared an image of BSNL's 5G Ready SIM card in its recent post on X, hinting at the upcoming launch of services using home-grown technology by the National Operator.
BSNL's 5G Capabilities
Additionally, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia recently experienced BSNL's 5G-enabled phone call. This review of BSNL's 5G capabilities took place at the CDOT campus in Delhi.

BSNL Promotes Affordable Tariffs
Following the revision of telecom tariffs by private operators, BSNL has been promoting its tariffs as affordable alternatives and inviting users to switch to its network. The telco is also running various campaigns to facilitate the porting process from other operators.
Furthermore, BSNL is urging users to switch their 2G/3G SIM cards to 4G-enabled SIM cards for free. Additionally, BSNL is offering free 4GB of data to experience its 4G services in areas where high-speed 4G services are available.

BSNL 4G Future Plans
This milestone follows BSNL's announcement of building 10,000 4G sites in early July 2024. According to earlier reports, BSNL plans to deploy 80,000 towers, with the remaining 21,000 sites expected to be deployed by March next year. The state-run telecom operator aims to roll out 4G across over 100,000 sites.
