The 5G FWA (fixed-wireless access) POC (proof of concept) has now been concluded in Visakhapatnam. This was done by Blue Cloud Softech Solutions (BCSSL), a homegrown IT systems integrator and Orange Business Services. This PoC took place at BSNL's Mindi Exchange in Visakhapatnam, Andra Pradesh.
This PoC was executed and validated with the deployment of 5G access network, radio, customer premises equipment (CPE), and core. This helped the companies in testing the real-world field conditions of the 5G FWA from BSNL.

All of the planned test cases were validated, and things like latency, jitter, throuhput, session setup, and connection stability was monitored. Everything was executed properly and the key performance indicators (KPIs) were met.
This FWA PoC demonstrated the interoperability between the QuadGen radio access network (RAN), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Core, BSNL's transport, AAA systems, and BNG. This paved the way for commercial and scalable 5G fixed broadband deployment.
BCSSL, in collaboration with the Orange Business Services led the enterprise grade deployment of BSNL's 5G FWA. The companies together implemented a Broadband Network Gateway (BNG)-based subscriber management framework so that a scalable solution at the designated test locations can be delivered.

BSNL, in a joint statement said, "All planned RAN, Core, and integration test cases were executed successfully under the supervision of BSNL technical teams. The solution demonstrated stable performance, compliant KPIs, and successful 5G PDU session establishment with PPPoE billing workflow once the N6 interface was integrated with the BNG.We request formal POC sign-off and confirmation that the 5G FWA POC is completed."
This is an important milestone for BSNL which is currently trying to compete with the private telcos and FWA services will definitely go a long way for the company.
