And now, we have noticed that the data speeds in the city are increased drastically when compared to what we used to get a month ago. Let’ speak about the data speeds first.

A month ago, I used to get a download speed of close to 5 Mbps in Airtel network, but now, am getting close to 22 Mbps download speed in the same location. That said, these download speeds are indoor speeds and not outdoor speeds. However, I did not notice any increase in the upload speed though. The upload speeds are still underwhelming at below 2 Mbps.

Also, it looks like the speeds are increased everywhere across the city. One of the authors has registered download speed of 44.76 Mbps and upload speed of 6.67 Mbps. These are some insane speeds, but the upload speed could have been better.

Earlier this year, Ookla rated Bharti Airtel as India’s fastest network, but Trai’s speed test applications rated Reliance Jio as the fastest operator for seven consecutive months. Airtel recently announced Project Next, under which the operator has plans to expand the network infrastructure and the company might even roll out VoLTE services in the near future as well in Hyderabad.

Also for another 1 yrs, All Airtel customer will face frequent network issues because of Carrier addition, LTE A upgrade, Volte Launch and in the end re farming of 900 Mhz(2G to 4G Migration).
So if any Airtel lover facing issue can move to Jio for yr or 2 and then come back

Airtel is not going to refarm 900 MHz anytime soon. They are considering buying 850 MHz waves if available in next auctions.

850 is not available in qty and in all states in next auction. 900 mhz will be rafarmed to use for volte as post volte deployment signal strength goes down per site to reduce noise and attunation . Hence 1800 mhz coverga will not be sufficient for seamless volte calls.

Again, Airtel clearly said “not in the medium term” at the IMC on this particular issue.

They can buy from Docomo and some more from the auctions.

Yes Docomo will shut down it’s operations soon, so it might be worthwhile buying from them. But they have only 2.5 MHz, so Airtel will need to get more from someone else.
