Indian telecommunications service provider Bharti Airtel recorded the highest net wireless subscriber additions in October 2024, according to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Airtel added 1.93 million mobile subscribers during the month, reflecting the telecom landscape post-tariff revision, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Airtel Outperforms Competitors
Speaking about industry trends, Airtel noted that it added 1,928,263 wireless users, followed by state-run BSNL, which added 501,224 users, while MTNL saw a decline of 2,273 users. Other private operators, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea, reported subscriber losses of 3.76 million and 1.98 million, respectively.
Wireless Subscriber Growth Across Circles
Bharti Airtel added wireless subscribers across all circles except in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh East. It recorded the highest wireless subscriber additions in 15 circles, bringing its total wireless subscriber base to 385.41 million as of October 31, 2024.
The total wireless user base in India declined slightly by 0.29 percent, decreasing from 1,153.72 million in September to 1,150.42 million in October 2024.

Airtel Dominates M2M Connections Market
Regarding Machine-to-Machine (M2M) connections, Airtel holds the largest market share at 51.82 percent, with 29.08 million connections, followed by Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio.
Highest Active User Base
In terms of active user base, Airtel achieved a Visitor Location Register (VLR) percentage of 99.48, the highest among all telecom operators in the country, Airtel noted.
