After being dormant for weeks due its ongoing merger, Idea Cellular has finally launched a new plan of Rs 295 to compete better with the likes of Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. This new plan is Idea Cellular’s first step towards the growing competition post the merger. Let’s dive right in and see the best-prepaid plans being offered below the range of Rs 300 from Reliance Jio, Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel which compete head-on with each other. Airtel has a voice-only plan of Rs 299 while Jio is offering a similar plan of Rs 299 with all the three benefits of voice, data and SMS.
Idea Cellular Rs 295 Prepaid plan
This new plan by Idea doesn’t offer daily data for its entire validity periods. Instead, it comes with an older format of 5GB bundled data which is valid for 42 days. Besides the 5GB 2G/3G/4G benefit, users have the calling facility which is capped at 250 minutes a day and 1000 minutes a week. Also, users are only limited to calling 100 unique numbers in 7 consecutive days. After users exhaust the data limit, they will be charged at Rs 4 per MB or 4p/10KB. On crossing the voice cap, subscribers will be charged at 1p/minute. Lastly, subscribers also get the added benefit of 100 SMS per day.
Idea Cellular also has a Rs 149 voice-only plan which offers free voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 21 days.
Bharti Airtel Rs 299 Voice Only Plan
Unlike the plan by Idea Cellular, Airtel’s Rs 299 plan comes only with voice calling benefit and no data benefit. The validity of this plan is 45 days. However, this plan also brings the 100 SMS per day advantage to the users. Unlike the Idea Cellular, this one even doesn’t come with a voice cap meaning that users get access to genuinely unlimited voice calling without any restrictions.
Under its combo offerings, Airtel offers the Rs 249 and Rs 349 plans which ship daily data benefit to the users. Similar to the Rs 299 plan, another combo plan by Airtel comes at the price of Rs 199 which offers voice benefit to the users for 28 days along with 100 SMS per day and 1.4GB data per day.
Reliance Jio Rs 299
Reliance Jio has got a different offering in its portfolio for Rs 299. This plan by Reliance Jio comes with a 28 days validity, and it offers unlimited calling without any FUP. Further, this plan also provides 3GB data daily. Users will also have the added benefit of 100 SMS daily, and they will get a free subscription to Jio apps like JioMusic, JioTV etc.
After the merger which paved the way for the largest telco in the country – Vodafone Idea Ltd, the company is now better prepared to face competition. The telecom behemoth has even surpassed Bharti Airtel, the former biggest telco in the country by boasting of 437 million customers and 35% market share. Also, the merger brings together a combined synergy of $10 billion which Vodafone Idea Ltd will use to develop a stronghold in the country.
