Another cable company in the Indian market has made a major move by foraying into the consumer product segment. The company that we are talking about is Asianet Satellite Communications-owned Asianet Digital Network, which has recently launched an Android-powered 4K UHD hybrid set-top box. Now only this, but along with this new set-top box, Asianet Digital Network is also set to bring its Asianet LED TVs into the market. Under this banner, the company will be introducing television sets with SD, Full HD, 4K smart TVs in sizes ranging from 32-inch to 65-inch.

Asianet Magic Box Feature and Pricing

Asianet has launched its hybrid set-top box under the name of Asianet Magic Box, and it will be retailing in the market for Rs 5,999. However, for the annual paying customers of the company, the new offering will only cost Rs 3,999. This offer will be available for the customers who take a year-long subscription of Asianet Digital TV, Asianet Broadband and Asianet Giga Fibernet services. Speaking about the offers on the LED TVs, Asianet revealed that it would be offering up to 40% discounts on the same which would include discounts on cable TV subscription as well.

It is worth noting that Asianet’s Magic Box is a hybrid set-top box built on Google’s Android TV platform with 4K ultra-HD support. The product also features Streaming Media Player with the Google Assistant & Google cast built-in with Dolby and Dolby Plus. The highlight of this new offering by Asianet is that it won’t only allow you to stream conventional linear TV channels but would also make up for an excellent way to stream video and online games from applications which will be able to run on the Android TV platform.

During the launch of the Asianet Magic Box, COO of Asianet, G. Sankaranarayana said, “As a leading Digital TV service provider in the country, Asianet Digital Network Pvt Ltd has been delivering Linear television channels for the past 25 years and now we would like to provide Online Entertainment (Video and Gaming) to our subscribers using Asianet Smart Box in a very affordable way rather than a need to reinvest in a new smart TV.”

Magic Box to Support Android 8.0, Google Apps, Third Party Apps and More

Talking about the features of the product, the executives also announced that the Magic Box comes with support for Android 8.0 with Verimatrix CAS (Conditional Access System). This allows the Magic Box to lend support for voice search. There is also a built-in Chrome cast which will enable you to connect and stream media from your phone very easily. The Magic Box will also support Google apps like Photos, Maps, Chrome and much more. Additionally, there will be support for third-party applications like Amazon Prime, Hotstar, TED, Facebook, etc. On the quality front, the Asianet Magic Box supports 4K Ultra High Definition quality with latest 4K HDR technology and dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support for connectivity.

Asianet Digital Networks also revealed a little bit about the latest TV, and announced that it is available for purchase in two variants: 32” HD LED TV and 43” FHD LED TV. The TVs come with A+ Grade panel for a wide-angle view and also HD-ready screen and a set of 16W powered speaker. For connectivity, the TVs offer 2 HDMI port, 2 USB port, VGA Port, RCA, and an earphone jack.
