Apple iPad Pro 9.7-inch to be launched in April for the Indian market, starting at Rs. 49,900

At the iPhone SE launch event yesterday, Apple also unveiled the iPad Pro 9.7-inch. The new iPad Pro 9.7-inch will be launched in India sometime in the starting of April, at Rs. 49,900. The device will be available in Gold, Silver, Space Grey, and Rose Gold color options.

The iPad Pro 9.7-inch features a 9.7-inch ‘True Tone Display’, and is powered by an A9X processor, and M9 motion co-processor. The device sports a 12-megapixel iSight camera with support for 4K video recording, along with an 8-megapixel front camera. It supports connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. It runs on Apple’s latest iOS 9.3 OS.

At the launch event, Apple executive Phil Schiller claimed that more than 200 million 9.7-inch iPads have been sold. He asserted that the new iPad Pro 9.7-inch has 25 percent brighter display than the iPad Air 2, and it is the brightest tablet on the market as of now. Speaking further, Schiller said,“In many ways, this is the best displays we’ve ever built for an iPad. It sports an A9X processor for faster performance, making it more powerful than a Xbox 360,"

The Apple iPad Pro 9.7-inch will be up for sale in three storage variants - 32GB/128GB/256GB. Each storage variant will also have a sub-variant on the basis of Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity options. For India, the 32GB (Wi-Fi only) storage variant will retail at Rs. 49,900, while the 32GB (Wi-Fi + Cellular) storage variant will be priced at Rs. 61,900. The pricing for other variants has not been revealed yet.

Moreover, Apple also showcased a few accessories to go with the iPad Pro 9.7-inch, at the launch event. The Apple Pencil will be up for sale at a price of Rs. 8,600; the Smart Keyboard Case at Rs. 13,900; Smart Cover for Rs. 3,700; and Silicone Cases at Rs. 5,200. Other accessories that will be available sometime later are - Lightning to USB-C Cable (Rs 2,300), Lightning to USB-C Cable 2 meters (Rs 2,900), Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter (Rs 2,900), Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader (Rs 2,500), and Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter (Rs 4,100).
