Apple Increased iPhone Prices by Up to 3.6% in India Following Import Duty Hike

Apple has increased the price of its iPhones in India, following Modi government’s decision to raise custom duty on mobile phones from 15% to 20%. The prices of iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will go up. The prices of the Apple devices now have increased by almost 3%. Apple said the new prices of the iPhone models will be applicable starting today, i.e. February 5, 2018. Apple confirmed the new prices of iPhones and informed retailers the price increase would be effective starting 8 AM today. The company also updated the prices on its official website.

The latest price increase comes weeks after similar price increase on iPhones was announced back in December 2017. The customs duty was hiked from 10% to 15% back then. Only the iPhone SE remains unaffected by the price change which is currently assembled in the country.

Here’s the new prices of Apple iPhones:

Apple iPhone X
Apple’s flagship iPhone X now starts at Rs 95,390 for 64GB storage version up from Rs 92,430 price. Initially, the iPhone X was launched at Rs 89,000. The bigger 256GB version of iPhone X will cost Rs 1,08,930 which is an increase from 1,05,720 pricing.

Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
Apple iPhone 8 will now start at Rs 67,940 for the 64GB version in India up from the Rs 66,120. It was launched in September last year at Rs 64,000. The iPhone 8 256GB variant starts at Rs 81,500 up from the Rs 79,420 price at which it was introduced.
