A top gun at Sony had recently stated that only Xperia Z series of smartphones will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update. This had made a lot of customers angry that their entry-level and mid-range devices won't receive future software updates.
Well, some recent screenshots which surfaced on the Internet, supposedly of the Android Lollipop build for the mid-range Sony Xperia C3 have sparked rumours about an upcoming Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the device. It now appears that the firmware update has been certified by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. The design name for the listed software on the certification is “Wukon To L”, while the codename for the Sony Xperia C3 is “Wukong”, further hinting at an upcoming Lollipop update for the device.
Bluetooth SIG had followed a similar design name convention preceding the big firmware update for the Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition. The device, which was codenamed “Togari”, had the Lollipop certification by Bluetooth SIG use the design code name as “Togap Play to L”. While this could be used to argue that Sony will bring Lollipop to handsets outside of the Xperia Z series, the company has not made any official statements yet.
