Airtel Payments Bank has introducued a new feature called Face Match. It is meant to make the account more secure for the user. Face Match uses sophesticated machine learning algorithms for calculating a threat score for each savings bank account user. This will depend on several factors such as user behaviour, transaction location and patter, device, and more.

The user needs to surpass the threat score to secure their account from potential fraudulent transactions. One the Face Match is activated, the user will immediately receive a notification of the same on their registered mobile number. The notification will come with a link that will redirect the user to the Face Match section of the Airtel Thanks app. The user will have to simply take a selfie here and then the selfie is compared to the original ohoto from the onboarding process.
Based on the facial recognition and liveliness checks, the customer will be granted access to making trasactions. If there's an unsuccessful match, the app will prompt the user to visit a nearby banking point for biometric verification.

This kind of technology has been implemented by the company to ensure that customers don't fall prey to fraudulent activities such as account takeover and more.
