Airtel Digital TV Set-Top Box Upgrades Begin at Rs 699 for SD Subscribers

One of the most popular DTH operators out there is Airtel Digital TV. While Dish TV and Tata Sky seem to be the top choice of all the subscribers out there, Airtel Digital TV also enjoys a lot of traction from the DTH customers. Especially given the new competition in the DTH industry, Airtel Digital TV has surely ramped up its operations by introducing new long-term channel packs, offers, discounts and more for the subscribers. However, one of the most popular offerings from Airtel Digital TV happens to be its new Set-Top Box, Airtel Xstream Box. Now, to accommodate the subscribers who also like OTT services along with their DTH connection, Airtel Digital TV followed. The trend in the industry and introduced something for its subscribers which would allow them to access OTT content. Now, a lot of Airtel Digital TV customers are already either using the HD Set-Top Box or the SD Set-Top Box by Airtel Digital and hence they might need to upgrade their boxes to the Airtel Xstream one, which they can do for lesser costs as compared to new Airtel Xstream Box buyers. These upgrades allow the Airtel Digital TV users to make some affordable upgrades.




Airtel Digital TV Upgrade from SD to HD Set-Top Box

Before we move on to the upgrade to Airtel Xstream Box, firstly we would address the SD Set-Top Box users who are not even enjoying HD services. For these subscribers, Airtel Digital TV is offering an option to upgrade from the SD Set-Top Box to the HD Set-Top Box. Now to do this, the subscribers will have to pay Rs 699 instead of the total amount of a brand new HD Set-Top Box from Airtel Digital TV. But, the subscribers should also note that in addition to this Rs 699 charge, they would also have to pay Rs 150 engineer visitation charges to Airtel Digital TV, so that the engineer will be able to set up their new HD connection.

Airtel Digital TV Upgrade to Xstream Box

Alternatively, the subscribers can also choose to upgrade their Set-Top from HD or SD directly to the Airtel Xstream Box. Although the upgrade to Airtel Xstream would be a costlier than the one from SD to HD, subscribers who are willing to consume content on OTT applications will definitely enjoy the Airtel Xstream Box. However, for the subscribers who are using Airtel Internet TV, the upgrade might not be worth it as they might be getting almost all the features of Airtel Xstream TV on their Set-Top Box. So, talking about the pricing of this upgrade to Airtel Xstream Box, the existing Airtel Digital TV subscribers will only have to pay Rs 1,999 in addition to the Rs 250 as engineer visitation charges to the company. This means, that subscribers would almost be making a saving of Rs 2,000 on the Airtel Xstream Box, since, for the new users, the Airtel Xstream Box retails for Rs 3,999.

Features of Airtel Xstream Box

As for the features of Airtel Xstream Box, the subscribers getting the Hybrid Set-Top Box would be able to stream directly from Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Alt Balaji and YouTube. In addition to this, they also get a Chromecast built-in to stream content from your phone, tablet or laptop to their TV. Lastly, they would also be able to get Mobile gaming on TV with direct access to Google Play and Airtel Games. If you are an Airtel Digital TV subscriber, whether HD or SD, then the upgrade to Airtel Xstream Box would make the most sense if you want to consume OTT content.
