Bharti Airtel and Amazon today announced a strategic partnership to bring down the effective prices of 4G smartphones in India. As part of the partnership, the telecom operator will be offering cashback on select 4G smartphones on Amazon, thus bringing down the prices of the devices even further. That said, the wide range of devices starts at an effective price of Rs 3,399. Under the new offer, a total cashback of Rs 2,600 will be available on over 65 Amazon India exclusive 4G smartphones from popular brands such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung, Honor, LG, Motorola, Lenovo and others. Users opting this offer will get Rs 2,000 cashback from Airtel over a period of 36 months and they can even avail additional cashback of Rs 600 on Airtel recharges worth Rs 169 on Amazon website.

Here's how the offer works: Firstly, a customer has to purchase an Amazon India exclusive 4G Smartphone by making full down payment (users have to check out the list of smartphones on Amazon India website). That said, the customer should be an Airtel prepaid user.

Post the purchase of 4G handset, Airtel recharges worth Rs 3,500 must be done within the first 18 months of the device purchase to claim the first refund of Rs 500. For the next 18 months, users should perform another Rs 3,500 worth recharges to avail a cashback of Rs 1,500 from Airtel, which makes the total cashback of Rs 2,000 in 36 months.

That's not all. Users can avail another Rs 600 cashback from Amazon India. Customers have to make 24 recharges of Rs 169 on Amazon India website. For the unaware, Amazon has introduced prepaid mobile number recharge on its portal last year and is also said to be one of the fastest growing mobile recharges platform in India. The Rs 600 will be given as cashback of Rs 25 onto the customer’s Amazon Pay balance every month for a period of 24 months.

As you might be aware of, the Rs 169 plan of Airtel gives unlimited voice calls and 1GB data per day for 28 days. Sadly, it doesn't offer any SMS benefits.

As usual, the ownership of the 4G smartphones bought under the offer is completely with the customer and there is no need to return the device to Airtel or Amazon India at any point to claim the cashback benefit. The offer will also be available on select premium 4G smartphones on Amazon. In case, there is an existing cashback offer on the Rs 169 recharge on Amazon, customer’s account will be credited with the higher amount (i.e Rs 25 or above whichever is higher).

This partnership will also cater to Airtel's Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone initiative. The program was introduced last year with an aim to bring down the prices of affordable 4G smartphones. Airtel says that it received tremendous response from the users on this program.

Smartphones such as Tenor D, Xiaomi Redmi 5, Tenor E, Honor View 10, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and so on are available under Airtel-Amazon partnership.
