Is Airtel planning to hike its 2G data tariff ?

An anti-revolution was witnessed few days back on social media against Airtel regarding it's decision to charge separately on Voice Over IP methodology of data transmission for voice communications. With the woes of customers on one side, Airtel went ahead with its decision and also introduced a sample VoIP pack in the market which was later  rolled back or put on hold for now. Seems like the after effects of this decision can be slowly seen from the changing data pack benefits at lower price levels at this point of time.

Data plans

From the above image, if we observe and compare the data benefits of RC57 and RC67, looks like RC 57 will be slowly withdrawn and RC67 will replace it with lesser benefits.

Also there is another pack RC95 which gives a benefit of 200MB 2G data with a validity of 10 days closer to pack RC98 which gives a benefit of 500MB 2G data with a validity of 14 days. No person in senses will opt for RC95 when RC98 is available, so drawing conclusions I feel RC98 will be withdrawn. Looks like these packs(RC57 and RC95) will soon be removed from website or missed an update that should already be done.

These packs and scenarios give us a clue of an ongoing hike till TRAI comes up with a draft/framework to control OTT players as already Airtel nudged TRAI with its VoIP data packs.

Dear readers, what do you feel regarding this move? Are you getting ready to experience further hikes? Do let us know via comments.
