IDEA Cellular, the pan-India and fastest growing GSM mobile service operator has geared up to launch the “Idea Application Store” in association with India's leading VAS provider Spice Digital. The Idea App Store will be a centralized hub for wide range of mobile applications with four main categories – information, entertainment, commercial and social networking, developed specifically for mobile phones.

Idea's app store will be based on cross-platform, and will work on all platforms like Java and Windows Mobile. It will work on all GPRS phones irrespective of handset-mobile phone manufacturer. All the applications will be available on the Idea cellular GPRS/WAP home page to download, with a mixture of four categories – information, entertainment, commercial and social networking including business, media, mapping and social networking tools.

IDEA Cellular’s 57 million Postpaid and Prepaid GSM mobile subscribers can able to browse and download mobile applications direct from their mobile phone.

The concept of application store was first launched by Apple for its iPhone users and after that Blackberry and Nokia also launched the same.
