We've been hearing a lot about the Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini smartphone these days and here's one more to the growing list. The Galaxy S9 Mini with model number sm-g8850 has now paid a visit to popular benchmarking portal AnTuTu, which confirmed the specifications of the device. As per the listing, the S9 Mini will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The device will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Alongside that, the smartphone will have a display with 2220 x 1080 resolution (Full HD+). At the time of the benchmark, the smartphone was running Android 8.0 Oreo possibly on top of Samsung Experience UI.
The device on AnTuTu benchmark achieved a score of 136483, which is in-line with other Snapdragon 660 devices available in the market today such as the Nokia 7 Plus, Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and more. These are the only details revealed by the benchmark listing. With the device paying a visit to the benchmark apps, it is safe to presume the launch date is nearing.
Just yesterday, we reported that the purported Galaxy S9 Mini with model number sm-g8850 received Chinese regulatory certification TENAA. The listing revealed the upcoming smartphone would sport the same glass and metal sandwich design as the Galaxy S9 duo, but it will feature a smaller display (5.6-inch one, to be precise) with lower resolution.
It was rumoured earlier as well that the device will have Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood and the same is confirmed by the benchmark leak. To the back of the S9 Mini, there are two vertically aligned cameras same as the ones present on the iPhone X. They're said to be two 12MP sensors without the variable aperture feature which we saw on the Galaxy S9, but they'll be capable mid-range cameras. There will be an 8MP front-facing camera, and the phone will be armed with a 3000mAh battery.
It's still unknown for which markets Samsung is aiming the Galaxy S9 Mini, but the company does not have its presence in the Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000 price bracket in India. Samsung is now selling the two-year-old Galaxy S7 Edge around Rs 35,000, but it stopped marketing the device though. With the same Edge-to-Edge display, gorgeous design and decent mid-range hardware, the Galaxy S9 Mini could be a decent mid-range device from the South Korean smartphone giant.
