LG had a poor outing so far in 2017, even though it released decent smartphones which are value for money. However, LG's 2017 smartphones were overshadowed by the competition. Now, LG is looking to take revenge with its second flagship phone for the year- the LG V30.

LG officially launched the V30 smartphone at the IFA 2017 event in Berlin and said that the device will be up for sale in South Korea starting September 21. LG will launch the smartphone in other countries starting October.

We have seen the LG V30 in many rumours, and the device looked better than the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. And yes, the official LG V30 looks far better than the Galaxy Note 8. The V30 has a thickness of 7.33mm and weighs 158grams. LG says that the V30 is “the lightest among smartphones in the 6-inch and over category.” Also, LG managed to integrate a 3300mAh battery in the smartphone, even though going with a slimmer profile.

As the headline itself states, the V30 brings in many firsts to the smartphone industry. Firstly, the V30 has a 6-inch 18:9 OLED FullVision display. LG introduces the world's first 18:9 FullVision OLED display with the V30 smartphone. Thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio, the V30 doesn't feel as a 6-inch display smartphone.

Secondly, LG followed the trend and retained the dual camera system at the back. But the South Korean company has taken the game to a whole new level by adding a f/1.6 sensor to the phone, a first in any smartphone.

The LG V30 sports a 16MP standard sensor along with a 13MP wide-angle sensor at the back. The 16MP standard sensor has an aperture size of f/1.6. LG says that the V30 is “the most capable image capturing device in a smartphone.” The company has added a 5MP front-facing sensor which can also capture wide-angle selfies.

LG has ditched the secondary ticker screen on the V30, which used to be one of the USP for the LG V series of smartphones. The company has come up with a new feature called Floating Bar, which floats on the display and you can choose five apps to list in the floating bar. That said, the Floating Bar is a software feature. Software side of things, the V30 boots Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS with LG UX 6.0+ on top.

Hardware wise, the V30 has cutting edge hardware. The only drawback with the LG G6 was the older Snapdragon 821 chipset, but the V30 comes with a much better Snapdragon 835 SoC. Unlike the Galaxy Note 8, the V30 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There's a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 2TB. Furthermore, there's another variant of the V30 called V30+ with 128GB storage. The V30+ will be exclusive to South Korean market.

Other features of the device are IP68 rating, military grade MIL-STD 810G certification, face recognition support, and a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC. LG is adding B&O PLAY in the retail box of the V30 for all the audiophiles out there. The device has support for wireless charging and a fingerprint sensor rests at the back. The smartphone will be available in four colours- Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet.

LG is yet to announce the price of the V30.
