Chinese smartphone brand, Meizu has launched a new smartphone dubbed Meizu A5 in its homeland China. The smartphone is priced at 699 Yuan, which approximately dubs to Rs. 6,600, and might launch in India in coming months or by the end of this month. Also, the Meizu A5 is the cheapest smartphone from the company at the moment.
Meizu says that the phone will be available in three colour options- black, silver, and gold. For the asking price tag, you can't ask much in the specifications department. Meizu has added a 5-inch HD display to the phone with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, which further results in a pixel density of 294 PPI. The display is an IPS panel.
The Meizu A5 is powered by the 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chipset, with a 1.3GHz CPU. There's a 2GB of RAM module, coupled with a Mali-T720 GPU for handling the graphic intensive tasks. Also, the phone comes with 16GB of internal storage. If you want additional storage, you can expand the storage with the help of a microSD card. The phone accepts microSD card up to 32GB.
Connectivity wise, the Meizu A5 is a dual-SIM smartphone with support for VoLTE and 4G LTE. Other connectivity options in the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and micro USB port for USB OTG support.
The Meizu A5 measures 144 x 70.5 x 8.3 mm and weighs 140 grams. Also, the phone features the plastic body, instead of the metal body. However, you can't ask much for the asking price. The device runs an unspecified version of Android OS with Flyme OS 5.1 on top.
In terms of imaging, the Meizu A5 has an 8MP primary camera, paired with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. Up front, there's a 5MP selfie camera for video calls, which has a f/2.2 aperture. Lastly, the phone uses a decent 3060mAh battery. Meizu did not mention the support for fast charging support. At the moment, Meizu did not mention anything about the smartphone's launch in other countries including India.
