Microsoft has published its earning report for FY Q1 2015 , where it made a net income of $4.5 billion on $23.20 billion in revenue. Another important update from the earning report is that Microsoft has sold 9.3 million Lumia devices in Q1 2015. The number is up by just 5.6 percent from its previous sales of 8.8 million handsets during the same quarter last year, which is a bit disappointing.

It also announced that revenue from its Surface tablets were at $908 million this quarter, which is 127 percent up from $400 million for the same quarter last year. While the revenue is not that impressive when you compare it with its competitors, it's good to see that consumers have begun to embrace the Surface tablet line up.

Anyone who has used Surface tablet, knows that when it comes to buying a tablet, which will also serve as a netbook, there's no match to Microsoft's Surface. Currently, I us a 10-inch Android tablet coupled with a Belkin bluetooth keyboard for my work on move, and the experience is subpar at the best.

It's worth nothing that Microsoft is gearing up towards a strategy that will bring a unified experience across all device forms.
