When Motorola backed out of the Indian market in November 2012, no one thought that it would be able to make such a strong comeback. As per the latest reports from ABI Research, Motorola has managed to ship around 8.6 million smartphones in Q2 2014. This is a phenomenal growth even when compared to its sales in Q1 2014. Even though Moto X was like a breath of fresh air in the market with extreme customisable options, value for money smartphones like Moto G and Moto E are said to be the real reasons for this two fold growth in sales. Motorola managed to sell over a million Moto G smartphones in India through its exclusive sales partner; Flipkart. It managed to become a hit due to its build quality, well-rounded hardware specifications and a promise of faster Android updates.
Further, Motorola is expected to launch the successor to Moto G and Moto X; Moto G2 and Moto X+1 respectively. Also, Motorola is said to be working closely with Google to release their first Nexus smartphone, a phablet with 5.9-inch screen which is codenamed as ‘Shamu’. Recently, Motorola dropped the price of Moto G to compete with Asus Zenfone 5.
