  • Abbas ali September 25, 2011 10:05 pm

The 3g plan is so high that anyone who used to download more can’t use 3g because it is not possible for common people to waste Rs.2000 for simply using 2gb. 2g plan was better than 3g.

Don’t be surprised to know that among the complaints raised against the mobile networks, the complaints raised against AIRTEL is maximum.

No one.The biggest sucking company in india.and they increased their costumer by giving free sim and a good plan for a month, new airtel users take it,but after 1 month they understand, their is elephants teeth.and they are sucked by company in long terms.airtel claims of highest no of users.

  • vigrem February 11, 2011 1:03 pm

Airtel is nowadays becoming Ass Hole in the plans and rates not only in 3g but in Broadband for home users also…….

BSNL is giving good plans for 3g and the speed we get max upto 2mbps in 3.1mbps..
More over BSNL is giving 2gb of 3g data access for just rs.200/- which is valid for 30days…

  • manoo February 4, 2011 11:19 am

The 100MB plan validity is now back to 30 days which is good. Checkout website…

Another thing; I have selected dual mode, In bangalore looks like still some places dont have 3G signal (even in 5km radius of MG road).I was driving and on call, my call drops when I move from a 3g to 2g. tested twice on the same route. Is this expected or is it a bad hand-off of airtel network. So looks like with 3g I need to be ready with higher call drops, its not good airtel!!!

  • SANJEEVI January 28, 2011 10:38 pm

    Hi.. Friends
BSNL 3G Plan Cheap than Airtel
    Bsnl 500mb = 222rs
    1Gb = 352rs

  • Bipin January 27, 2011 11:58 pm

I hav selected UMTS mode in samsung corby pro and ya i am getting 3G signal

  • Sanjay January 27, 2011 5:18 pm

hariprasad :bsnl is not at all worried of making losses, that might be the reason why they are offering cheap plans…even if they make loss the govt may give financial assistance in the form of free grants etc which is actually the public money…so finally the public will suffer
Bsnl is not concerned about improving their network…yesterday when i went to bsnl office, the officer told me that more people would have joined bsnl 3g if they could maintain the connection speed…in kerala bsnl 3g there is a wide variation in the download speed.
Even in spite of these problem yesterday i shifted to bsnl new students suvidha plan…and they charged me Rs.149 and i will not get free Rs.100 talktime instead i will get 2000 free sms per month for 5 months and 1 month free gprs….and after 5months 5p per sms (new students suvidha plan).

I am often reluctant on taking the jokes.. but let me now rebut –

I will appreciate if you can mention a single instanc when Government gave grant to BSNL/MTNL.
We need to get our basic economics right.

A part of stake is owned by GOI and in return to that PSU gives annually a part of profit. Government company aim has not been maximizing profit but providing service efficiently at affordable price. As government has not allowed BSNL to invest abbroad hence they don’t need to fund overseas acqusitions from Indian customers pocket.

As far as loss is concerned, that is a inheritence given by Government. BSNL with more than 3 lakh employees and MTNL with more than 46000 employees subsist those many families or even more.

However, the bigger operator Airtel have employee base not more than 4000 pan india.

Hence, the simple mathematical calculation will enable one to understand the source and reason of loss.

Anyway, customer shall be bothered about service and tariff not if it is being funded by whom!! and some one has put it forth rightly, even if government give BSNL then it is case of returing your money to you by means of cheap service.

However, in case of priovate telocos, they will take India’s money to acquire somewhere else.

Airtel is not an Indian company. Plz get right. Neither is vodafone… and they need to fund overseas acqusitions from Indian customer’s pocket.

  • Sanjay January 27, 2011 4:51 pm

Indhu :@Kishor >>If private operators are not able to provide cheap>>3G data plans or unlimited plan, how BSNL is doing that
Maybe because BSNL doesn’t have to post profit quarter after quarter. They eat your tax money instead.

Probably, Nothing can be farther from truth than this.

Airtel became market leader..How? BSNL after 8 years of launch than Airtel, passed Airtel in subscriber base in just 3 years of operation. Thanks to our corrupt politicians and interference of politicians in PSU affairs that DOT never allowed network expansion of BSNL for 93 million subscriber tender.

-Facts right, Government have never extended monetary help to Telco PSUs.
-Facts right, Government have done appintments of CMDs of telcos BSNL/MTNL in consultation with Private telco bosses. (Nexus, you know it now, many knows since early)
    – Facts right, What was the logic of GOI (DOT) in appointing say RSP Sinha (A man who spent his entire life in finance and accounting to make head of a cosumer based company like MTNL..he ruined the company). Organizational changes, Strategic investments, Business Processes, Organizational structure..he ruined it all.
    – Facts right.. GOI has helped private telcos more..as they could offer the tip to politicians for that…government company can’t offer a penny….
    – Facts right.. In NTP 99, it was assured that private telco earn more profit by comming to revenue sharing regime.
    – Facts right, law and rules looked as mockery when Reliance used Limited Mobility Service (CDMA) for offering Roaming…the rules were twisted overnight at the will and convenience of corporate Inc.

So, all facts right without distortion… Government favors private companies as they could offer something in monetary terms, can fund election and can fill pockets..however, Government company, having no patronage of individual, can’t offer even single paisa…It bound to be at receving end.

I would be surprized, if dynbamics of money-game is that difficult to understand.

SO NOW WHAT YOU ALL GUYS THINK ABOUT THIS AIRTEL’S STRATEGY, PLEASE DO REPLY EVERYONE.

Why did they buy spectrum for?
with this tariff no one will ever take 3G from Airtel.

I am using bsnl 3g from 6-7 months. I am being charged 1p/10KB with no extra recharge i.e 1rupee/MB. I am very happy with this tariff for browsing from mobile. Airtel is no way near to bsnl in 3G tariff.

It is a misunderstanding that BSNL gets budgetary support. Like other operators it has paid 3g spectrum license fee and other taxes and fees are being paid every month in the same rate. As per the financial results of 2009-10 it is loss making where as Airtel and other private operators are making huge profits. Then why they are squeezing Am Admi.

  • Karthik Kumar V G January 25, 2011 10:03 pm

Reliance 3G Plan is better than Airtel for Rs 1800 they give 15 Gb. Tata Docomo gives 15 Gb for Rs 2000 @ 21 mbps speed. So what max speed is airtel going to give. 3G test in airtel special showroom is not that good it only gives 1.5 mbps.

  • Rzr January 25, 2011 9:30 pm

This translates to…. Rs.2650 for unlimited with 15.25 GB FUP and a throttle to 128 kbps afterwards…. Worser that Docomo……!!!!!!!!! :)

  • Avinash M January 25, 2011 5:50 pm

Sir BSNL is not here for profits but to serve people of India. Only few people are not sincere in this company otherwise this company provides best coverage, tariff, customer care, speed, and too many services which other companies can’t even think off. and about 3g licence fee no other company has paid more than 7000 crores for licence BSNL alone paid Rs. 18500 crores for licence still they provide cheapest tariff and best network. The only problem with them is that they don’t advertize. Their 3g Unlimited Data Packs are Rs. 1399 for 1 month, 2000 for 2 months, 2500 for 3 months and 4200 for 6 months that becomes 700 per month including taxes with a speed of 3.6 Mbps to 7.2 Mbps

  • Biren. January 25, 2011 11:15 am

Airtel SUCKS in every respect , data plan is too costly , They think that they are only operators in India . Now we can move out from their clutches thanks to MNP .

    Santu Sovan Mandal :
This is absolutely rubbish from airtel. BTW I want to share my little experience about mnp. On Jan 21st, I’ve registered with Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Tata Docomo, Bsnl, Idea & Uninor through their respective websites for porting my reliance gsm no any of them(Rather to check out who is most serious about mnp). Everybody promised to get in touch with me with their representatives after registration. But to my utter surprise, the first & only call was made to me by bsnl. Really BSNL now rocks. In kolkata, I’ve seen significant improvement of coverage, 3g almost everywhere in the city. Customer care is much much better right now. So, the best choice is BSNL & I’m gonna port to it today.

@Santu Sovan Mandal If u r a postpaid porting customer all these networks with postpaid plans wud have called u immediately. Btw even i would love to port to BSNL… But their tariff in TN circle is high like Airtel and Vodafone. N they dot have any combo packs also

  • rajiev January 25, 2011 10:36 am

yaar mujhe jahaan tak yaad hai bsnl 700 ul plan sirf feb tak hi hai!

  • US January 25, 2011 10:24 am

CDMA operators are much better. Tata and MTS both offer dirt cheap Data tariffs at 50P/mb and ultra low data packs. once customers add opn to GSM 3G networks, avg speeds will come down and be similar.

3G Peak data rate is only a nomenclature and real customers will never experience that because of exhorbitant tariffs

  • Sougata Das January 25, 2011 10:22 am

The tariff is too costly, thank god Airtel 3G is not there in Kolkata…I assume Airtel will have a tough time during this MNP & 3G season…

  • Keshav Jha January 25, 2011 9:51 am

Sunil Mittal had told that Airtel 3G will be cheap. Mittal ka cheap yahi hai kya? Sabhi operator miley huye hain. Koi affordable plan nahin layega. BSNL se nafrat karne walon, ab karo private operator ka use.

  • vibes January 25, 2011 9:13 am

BSNL 3G rocks. For heavy users best plan is unlimited @ Rs.4200/180 days, including 103% service charge so there are no billing shocks!

  • Karthik Kumar V G January 25, 2011 8:38 am

I have just saw the tariff plans in airtel website. It’s mentioned after 14 GB or Rs 2000 the speed will be limited to 20 kbps not 128 kbps and browsing in this speed will be free. 20 kbps is less than dial up (48 kbps) speed. I think airtel is taking us back to 1990’s speeds. Very bad….

  • Ariff January 25, 2011 8:11 am

I am using BSNL 3G unlimited Rs 4,200 for 6 months scheme in Nagercoil (Kanyakumari District). Though the speed in the afternoons are very low (about 150 kbps), the speeds before 9 AM and after 11 PM is around 1,000 kbps. All private operators are sucking their customers. Keep away from Reliance Infocom, which sucks too much.

  • Ankit January 25, 2011 7:15 am

Most of the my Airtel friends (Airtel known as looter, cheater) will port to MTNL Mumbai for 3G services because they are using 3G handset from long back & after the Airtel 3G tariff details they are confirmed. They are going to opt Youth plan in which 12sec/paise call is applicable for 9 nos onnet, without any monthly rental. Unlimited on net video calling @ just Rs. 65/month only where other operators offering 5p/sec onnet. Heartly Welcome to Airtel subscriber who want to stay in next generation technology in affordable rates or without increasing budget of mobile bills. MTNL hai toh sahi hai. MTNL NGN Next generation network. Switch to MTNL & show your GUSSA on Airtel 3G tarifff.

  • jagadeesh January 24, 2011 11:52 pm

BSNL 3G is best. other private operators are cheating us. switch to BSNL. thank u MNP. Bye Bye Aircel.

  • santosh January 24, 2011 10:41 pm

    @Indhu
its a pleasure to know that BSNL is eating our tax money…………but atleast giving us the unlimited plans in return………….but what about the NEERA radia tape case and the spectrum scam we have got nothing instead of losing ! lakh crore……………is there BSNL involved or they are the private players,,,,,,,,,,,,so atleast after eating our tax money BSNL is giving us something but private are eating onetime heavily and giving nothing……..so as per you too BSNL is better.

  • akshay January 24, 2011 10:40 pm

bsnl is going to upgrade their towers to 14 mbps upto march end this year (according to telecomtalk). if that’s gonna happen then the private operators are going to get screwed big time.think bsnl, due to it’s large spectrum of services and well established network, are able to provide unlimited data at such cheap rate. there is o other reason as far as i see why private operators failed to launch attractive 3g data plans.

  • Manivas January 24, 2011 10:17 pm

I will port my number to BSNl from airtel, with BSNL 3G there is a minimum guarntee of 200 kBps speed and they are providing unlimited plan @ 700/-

  • siddharth January 24, 2011 9:24 pm

airtel is chor he is only to earn , airtel was first company to charge to customer for calling airtel customer care. after that like a fool some company copied.

  • Indhu January 24, 2011 9:11 pm

BTW, if you are thinking of moving away from Airtel, feel free to do – but don’t pick Tata Docomo. Reason is: I have used photon+ and it sucks big time. Their wired network is too congested. Now, if they are going to offer 3G, only the first hop of the packet (till tower) will be 3G. After that they still have to depend of their same screwed up network.

In my case, I might give BSNL a try (their broadband was good conveying that their wired network is good enough) if Airtel’s exorbitant tariff is real. Will wait however till they confirm the tariff on their website.

  • Indhu January 24, 2011 9:06 pm

    @Kishor
    >>If private operators are not able to provide cheap
    >>3G data plans or unlimited plan, how BSNL is doing that

Maybe because BSNL doesn’t have to post profit quarter after quarter. They eat your tax money instead.

  • Indhu January 24, 2011 8:59 pm

BTW, I don’t see any tariff plans announced in Airtel website. How are you guys assuming that this tariff is correct?

  • Indhu January 24, 2011 8:58 pm

    @Kishor
    >>Anyway what is the max speed they are promising ?

Did you mean to ask “What is the min speed they are promising?”. Anybody can claim any max speed. Max speed is not a promise at all.

  • santosh January 24, 2011 8:29 pm

Airtel has totally failure plans comparing to BSNL as everybody here are looking for unlimited plans………………..its not official but true………..nobody want to bound himself with limited plans. but these private operators are totally got failed to analyze the customer, now the days have been changed and nobody cares for the brand ,ad or gifts like free sim its the unlimited ERA and NON OFFICIALLY the BSNL is the only operator providing this benefit, and one thing BSNL is the only operator having PAN INDIA presence ,so it is now better to go for BSNL and when These companies will wake up from dream and the prices are got down then only go for these PVT. operators………….at least MNP is here so no need to worry and choose BSNL, its time to choose only cost effective tariff,,,,, no need to give money to these PVT looters as at least we have an option like BSNL.

  • riju January 24, 2011 8:17 pm

    What a Comedy is this….. :) :) :) :)
Did they know the meaning of Heavy Usage?

  • Ganesh Srinivasan January 24, 2011 7:58 pm

Further clarifications, after my long post, on further browsing

The monthly budget cap is fixed at Rs 2,000 [not any amount I mentioned earlier] which gives a total of 14 GB at higher speeds. Beyond that no further charges but the speed is limited

  • Kalpesh January 24, 2011 7:49 pm

Ohh… I forgot Bsnl hai na. For data plan It is the best option now.

  • Kalpesh January 24, 2011 7:44 pm

With there plans, how these private operators will get the money back. I will better go for MTS Mbaze data card. 3 mbps is not that slow speed.

  • Ganesh Srinivasan January 24, 2011 7:37 pm

In response to “Apart form the above Plans, Airtel also launched on Heavy Users Plan at Rs. 650 which provide 1.25 GB free data usage. After Free usage all 3G data access will be 10p/MB up to 14 GB and after 14 GB the Speed cap of 128 Kbps will be applicable”, I have this clarification to make

I read through on Internet [various sites posted by people who attended their launch in Bangalore and Airtel has not updated their site yet]that such a plan is meant for heavy data users who would like to fix a monthly payout cap on the total bill

For example you can fix your monthly max as Rs 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 etc, upto which the charges are 10p / MB at higher speed and beyond which at 128 kbps – I guess on chargeable basis as you would exceed the budget you have set for yourself

TT can get better inputs on this part and post another one

Also they have launched per hour plans for which pricing is not yet available

  • som January 24, 2011 7:25 pm

will have to think now about switching to BSNL permanently.they are giving 5GB for just porting and airtel is providing 1.2GB for 700.what a ridiculous offer?how could they even dare to launch such a thing?unimaginable.
by the way all these operators are providing same thing.is not it monopolisation?if govt could interfere suspecting monopolising in air fare, where is govt now?

  • Kishor January 24, 2011 7:15 pm

  • dayle January 24, 2011 7:00 pm

Rs 250 for 500mb is definitely a better deal than the ones above.

  • Amit.G January 24, 2011 6:53 pm

    @Kishor
BSNL is backed by govt so their is no problem of funds. and now since bsnl is giving ul 3g @700 their is huge revenue for bsnl

  • Amit.G January 24, 2011 6:51 pm

vodafone’s 2G postpaid plans are costlier than Airtel’s 3g plans. Cant even imagine its 3g plans. Only good thing in vodafone is its pug. Right now BSNL is best and will remain best in 3g segment.

  • ANIRBAN January 24, 2011 6:19 pm

don’t worry about speed. Every operator is going to give same speed(2-3 mb). No matter what they say. All that matters is money. Have to see, which one is affordable.
