Yondr Secures Approval for Third Data Center on London Campus
Hyperscale data center operator Yondr Group announced that it has secured planning permission for a third building on its London campus in Slough. The new facility will be part of a 100+ MW capacity campus, further establishing West London as a key data center hub in Europe, the company said on Thursday. Located on the site of a former paint factory, the third data center will follow the first facility, which was completed in July, and the second, which is currently under construction.

Design Focuses on Environmental Sustainability

Yondr mentioned that it collaborated with Slough Borough Council and the Canal and River Trust to design a structure that enhances the canal bank and local biodiversity. A prominent feature of the design is a green wall, which will provide visual and acoustic shielding while promoting environmental sustainability.

Facility to Feature Solar Panels

The facility, targeting a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating, will include solar panels and advanced power utilisation efficiency (PUE), aligning with Yondr's sustainability goals for carbon neutrality by 2030.

Yondr commented: "With the design for the third building on our London campus we have taken learnings from the previous two buildings and considered challenges to develop an exceptional data center design that will set the standard for environmental best practice in the data center sector.

"The design that has been approved will enhance the canal-side walks, protect the canal, and enhance both vistas and pedestrian/cycle access for local residents, while increasing data capacity with an energy-efficient and resilient data center asset.

Integrating Environmental Best Practices

"With this project, we are demonstrating that data center performance, environmental responsibility, aesthetics, and sensitivity to local residents can all be integrated into progressive data center design, and we’re looking forward to delivering on every one of those objectives as this project advances."
