Xiaomi unveils Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime alongside MIUI 7 in China

As we were expecting, Xiaomi has eventually unveiled the much-awaited Redmi Note 2 along with MIUI 7, at an event in China. The device has been launched in two variants, Redmi Note 2 has been priced at RMB 799 (Approx. Rs. 8,080), and the Redmi Note 2 Prime has been priced at RMB 999 (Approx. Rs. 10,100).

Xiaomi has not revealed the availability of the device in other markets, but it will unleash the details about India availability on Monday, at an event in New Delhi. The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, and is powered by a 64-bit 2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. There are two variants of the Redmi Note 2 in 16GB and 32GB internal storage options. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 2 Prime also features 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display, but is powered by a 64-bit 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB internal storage.

The Redmi 2 sports a 13-megapixel Samsung camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture and 5-element lens. There is a 5-megapixel OmniVision selfie camera on the front. The phablet is backed by a 3,060mAh battery, and supports connectivity options such as dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and in terms of software, it runs Android 5.0 Lollipop-based MIUI 7 out-of-the-box.The device will be available in five colors - White, Black, Pink, Brown, and Light Blue.
