The brand tweeted a new Redmi series will launch in India on November 30th, touting it as the ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’. Until recently most smartphones released in India were first unveiled in China and later rolled out for the Indian audience. The Chinese phone maker, however, did not reveal the name of the new device.

While it remains unclear which smartphone is Xiaomi teasing, speculations suggest it could possibly be the Xiaomi Redmi 5A which launched in China last month. The Redmi 5A is the upgrade to ultra-affordable Redmi 4A which was launched last year for the price of 5999.

Reports are suggesting the newly teased Redmi phone may be geared exclusively towards India’s rural market. Xiaomi VP and India MD Manu Kumar Jain had hinted the same in his cryptic tweets about a new phone. Jain said he has been on a mission to connect and meet with rural Indian during his “field trip across villages”.

“Gained insights on the way people lead their lives in rural India. Fingers crossed for a new product that I believe will help change their lives,” Manu Jain previously tweeted.

Based on the Jain’s messages it is highly likely the new smartphone would be the Redmi 5A, but we’re not sure on the information though.
