Chinese handset maker, Xiaomi is having yet another successful year as the company has shipped 100 million smartphones in 2018. To recall, earlier this year Xiaomi announced that it's looking to ship 100 million smartphones in 2018, but it has achieved the target with two months to spare. This news is announced by Xiaomi's global team. Xiaomi has launched a handful of devices this year including five flagship devices with Snapdragon 845 chipset and also made several smartphones make their global debut with Snapdragon processors. For example, the Snapdragon 636 SoC made its global debut with Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, while the Snapdragon 710 SoC was brought by Xiaomi to users with the Mi 8 SE in China. Not only flagships, but Xiaomi also launched various mid-range and entry-level devices which attracted the customers across the globe.

Xiaomi India Contributed Significant Number to the Global Shipments

As you would know by now, Xiaomi is leading the Indian smartphone market for four quarters in a row now. And in 2018, it has shipped more smartphones than any other brand in the country, including Samsung. Xiaomi set a record of selling more than 10 million smartphones in a single quarter in Q2 2018, owing to the strong sales of Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 5A and other models. And in Q3 2018, it's nothing different as Xiaomi extended its lead at the top.

Xiaomi launched a lot of phones in India this year. The Chinese company started the year with two launches- Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5, followed by the Redmi 5 in March. Then in June 2018, it brought the Redmi Y2 to the Indian market, followed by Mi A2 and Poco F1 in August 2018. Last month, we saw the Redmi 6 devices such as the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro making their debut in the country. And in the next couple of months, we might see the company bringing the Mi Max 3 and the newly launched Mi Mix 3 smartphones the country. The highest priced Xiaomi phone this year in India comes from its newly created sub-brand Poco F1. The Poco F1 is retailing in India at a starting price of Rs 20,999 for the 6GB+64GB variant and the premium variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is available at Rs 29,999.

Xiaomi Aggressively Expanding its Foray to Many Global Markets

2018 will be marked as Xiaomi's expansion year as the company forayed into several markets such as Europe, Italy and so on. It's launching phones aggressively in every market. So by the end of October 31, Xiaomi' shipments will exceed 100 million. It is safe to assume that Xiaomi will end the year with overall shipments close to 120 million or more than that. The company will be now bringing the Mi Max 3, Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8 Lite and Mi Mix 3 to the global markets, which will further increase the shipments number.
