The Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi recently announced that it will be separating Redmi into a different sub-brand which would be focused mainly on budget based smartphones, while Xiaomi will delve with premium end smartphones from now. The manufacturer also hinted towards the launch of a 48MP camera smartphone on the January 10 event in China. Alongside this new smartphone, Xiaomi will also be launching the Redmi 7. However, as per a new noteworthy update, the Redmi Note 7 launch might also be very close. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, which is the successor to the Redmi Note 6 has been spotted on the Geekbench database.
Redmi Note 7 to Pack Snapdragon 660 AIE
Allegedly, as per the listing which was spotted concerning the Redmi Note 7 on Geekbench, the Android smartphone will sport the 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor. This will be an upgrade from the current Note series, as the Redmi Note 5 sports the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, whereas the Redmi Note 6, which was launched in September last year packs the Snapdragon 636 processor. Not only that but if the listing is to be believed, then the Redmi Note 7 will also come with 6GB of RAM thus offering some impressive performance. Also, Geekbench says that Xiaomi is testing its phone on the latest Android 9 Pie operating system.
Now to tell about the Geekbench Benchmark scores themselves, the Redmi Note 7 was able to crack 1,462 points in the single-core and 4,556 points in the multi-core test. When compared to the other smartphones sporting the same chipset, the scores of Redmi Note 7 seem to be a tad bit on the lower spectrum.
Redmi 7 TENAA Listing Likely Spotted
Another thing to note is that a new smartphone has been spotted on the Chinese certification website, TENAA which is being speculated to be the Redmi 7. The TENAA listing has pointed out that the new smartphone features a 6.3-inch display and comes with a battery of 3900mAh. As for the design of the smartphone, the device features glossy back, and it is likely that it will debut in multiple colour variants. Additionally, the phone will feature a dual rear camera setup which will be vertically oriented, and the back side will also have a fingerprint sensor.
Also, it is worth noting that Xiaomi’s new announcement of separating its Redmi brand will affect its future releases. The new 48MP camera phone by Xiaomi has been hinted to be released under the Redmi sub-brand, whereas the upcoming premium releases by the manufacturer like the Mi MIX series and the original Mi series will continue to be under Xiaomi moniker. To recall, in 2018, Xiaomi had formed another sub-brand POCO to launch performance based smartphones.
