Alongside companies like Asus and Nokia, Xiaomi has also announced that it will be selling India's Best-Selling Dual Camera smartphone- the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro at a price of Rs 12,999. During the Flipkart Big Billion Days which are set to begin on October 10, the Redmi Note 5 Pro can be purchased with Rs 2,000 discount at Rs 12,999, down from the original price of Rs 14,999. This is the first time Xiaomi will be selling the Redmi Note 5 Pro at a discounted price since its launch back in February this year. Alongside the discounted price, customers can even avail a 10% with HDFC cards, which will bring down the overall price of the smartphone even more.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro at Rs 12,999: Should You Buy it?

Absolutely. Now, you might be wondering whether to pick the Realme 2 Pro or the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Well, if you want better cameras (both front and rear), you can choose the Note 5 Pro over Realme 2 Pro any day. The Note 5 Pro comes with 12MP+5MP sensors on the rear side along with a 20MP front-facing camera.

Other specifications of the Note 5 Pro include a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display, capable Snapdragon 636 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, 4000mAh battery and boots Android 8.1 Oreo.

On the flip side, the Realme 2 Pro offers much trendy waterdrop notch and comes powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset. In day-to-day tasks, you won't notice much difference with the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Realme 2 Pro, but while gaming, the latter offers better performance than the former, thanks to the Adreno 512 GPU.

Experience wise, the Realme 2 Pro comes with Color OS based on Android 8.1 Oreo, while the Note 5 Pro has MIUI 10 based on the same Android 8.1 Oreo. The Realme 2 Pro has a smaller battery compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which gives an upper hand to the Xiaomi phone.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Other Competitors in India

Alongside Xiaomi, other smartphone brands such as Asus and HMD Global also announced discounts on their smartphones. Asus and Flipkart teamed together to make the Zenfone Max Pro M1 available at a starting price of Rs 9,999. During Flipkart Big Billion Days, the Max Pro M1's 3GB RAM variant will be available at Rs 9,999, followed by the 4GB RAM option at Rs 10,999 and the 6GB RAM variant at Rs 12,999. On top of that, users can get an additional discount with HDFC cards.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 at Rs 12,999 offers 6GB of RAM, Snapdragon 636 SoC, dual rear cameras of 16MP+5MP, 16MP front-facing camera, stock Android 8.1 Oreo and a 5000mAh battery. This seems like a better package than the Redmi Note 5 Pro, but again, the cameras aren't that good. The camera hardware matches that of Note 5 Pro, but the software processing was a big letdown for this variant.

HMD Global has discounted the Nokia 6.1 Plus by Rs 1,000, and it will be available for Rs 14,999 during the sale. The Nokia 6.1 Plus is compact and good-looking smartphone than the Note 5 Pro, but it lacks way behind in the camera and battery department. If looks and stock Android experience is high on your list, then get the Nokia 6.1 Plus.
