Late last month, Xiaomi was rumoured to launch its budget smartphones- the Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, and Redmi Note 5 before November 11. In China, several e-commerce portals conduct deals on smartphones and Xiaomi is looking to take advantage of the sale by launching new models.
A new report from mydrivers now states that Xiaomi will start teasing the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus today or tomorrow. Sadly, the company is not looking to launch the Redmi Note 5 as per the report. However, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will be up for sale on November 11 at affordable prices.
The report also revealed the specifications of both Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. Both the devices are expected to feature 18:9 displays, in-line with most of the 2017 smartphones. The smaller Redmi 5 will feature a 5.7-inch HD display with a resolution of 720 × 1440 pixels. As it was rumoured earlier, the Redmi 5 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There might be a 4GB RAM variant as well.
The device is expected to come with a 12MP camera at the back, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The Redmi 5 will ship with Android 7.1.2 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top and the price of the smartphone will start from 799 Yuan.
Coming to the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, it will be a bigger variant of the Redmi 5 with better specs on board. The Redmi 5 Plus will feature a larger 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 × 1080 pixels. It will come preloaded with Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9 and there will be a premium 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model.
This device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. Cameras in the Redmi 5 Plus include a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The price of the Redmi 5 Plus will start from 999 Yuan for the 3GB RAM model and 1299 Yuan for the 4GB RAM model.
This report did not reveal the battery capacities of both the smartphones, but as per previous rumours, Xiaomi might add a 3790mAh battery to both the smartphones.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, which was expected to arrive alongside the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will feature similar specifications as the Redmi 5 Plus. But there might be a dual camera setup at the back of the Redmi Note 5 and Snapdragon 630 chipset inside it.
