Xiaomi Rolls Out MIUI 9.2 Global Stable ROM for Redmi 1S Based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat

Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM for its Redmi 1S smartphone. Through the official MIUI forum, Xiaomi announced the release of MIUI Global Stable ROM V9.2.2.0.KHCMIEK for Redmi 1S. The MIUI 9 update for the Xiaomi Redmi 1S brings several new features as per the changelog. For first, there improved search results in Contacts with improved layout and readability. There are better blocklist rules which now allow for separate rules for every SIM card. This update is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The MIUI 9.2 update also brings new App Lock features. There’s newly added App Lock step before unlocking using a new fingerprint for the first time. The App Lock now also supports hiding messages from selected apps.

The MIUI 9 skin also bring a New-Simplified User Interface with changes in the Lockscreen, Status Bar, and Notification Bar. The update has adjusted the time for tapping the Lock screen notifications and fixed the search bar in the Notification area which wasn’t display correctly earlier.

There are also new optimised themes which bring along a redesigned home page and as well updated Peach blossom and Asphalt themes. The Mi Mover app now supports data migration restarting. This means in case migration of data is interrupted, the device hotspot connection will be restored automatically.

Also, the update brings new improved battery usage feature wherein a switch now allows for automatic turning on of Battery Saver Mode when charging.

There also several optimisations including the Security app which now has a simplified and improved design for the virus scan result page. The Quick Ball now goes back to the edge after 3 seconds of inactivity. In addition, there are several optimisations in Dual App Setting, Bluetooth Settings, Mi account and Mi Drop. You need to be on MIUI 8 Stable ROM to receive this update, and it weighs 153MB in size.

As for the phone, the Redmi 1S was one of the very first phones from Xiaomi in the entry-level segment. The Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch display with 1080 x 720-pixel resolution and 312 PPI pixel density. Under the hood, the device packs Snapdragon 400 processor paired with mere 1GB of RAM. The specs may not sound much impressive, but Xiaomi says with MIUI 9, the device will have better performance and improved app startup speed. For the unaware, the Redmi 1S was released back in 2014.
